He worked with another future Pixar stalwart, Joe Ranft, on a script, but the project never went ahead and Lasseter had to leave it behind when he left Disney.īut fear not! The rights were picked up by Hyperion Pictures and Kushner-Locke, hitting screens in 1987 as a regular ‘toon with distribution from the Mouse House. The tome has a storied history with cinema, since John Lasseter was the first to propose turning it into a film as Disney’s first stab at computer animation. We are reliably informed that he’s simply a man and not a rogue Timelord. Originally published in 1980 by Thomas M Disch, the source book finds a lamp, an electric blanket, a radio, a hoover and a toaster heading off on a quest to find their owner, who they refer to as The Master. I dont know why but it just didn’t.It appears The Brave Little Toaster will have to be exceedingly courageous once more, as a company called Waterman Entertainment has bought it and plans to turn it into a live-action / CG hybrid film for, you know, kids. Lampy getting struck by lightning = me leaning forward hoping he’s not… The air conditioner exploding = me ducking behing the couch.Ģ. This movie had so many gripping moments… that’s why I liked it! It was a kids film for kids who hated cute or over-happy movies like me.ġ. It wanted to end those appliances’ existence so bad it almost killed a guy! That rumbling noise it made was just scary to me. My personal favorite is “Worthless.” The car crushing scene was the best scene in the movie even though the magnet scared the crap out of me. This movie had great music and I have 3 songs from it on my MP3… yes, I like them that much… His limbs are eaten up tapes! I don’t care who you are, that’s creative! My personal favorite appliance design is the red tape recorder in the parts shop. I love the characters’ designs too, some of them are really creative. In fact, I think my sense of humor probably started forming when I was watching the characters fight amongst one another over the smallest things. The fighting between him in the radio never grew old for me. Great humor, characters, story, music, everything was great! IT BURNS!!!!! ~insert creeeepy CREEPCLOWNIMAGEHEREĪs I’ve previously stated, this is my favorite movie from my childhood. In some ways, I see a bit of Claus/Mother 3 in the movie, kind of.
You thoughts, creepiest parts, how much of a joke you found the sequal…everything! I might just watch the movie sometime later today lol On youtube duh…haha.
Yes…you can tell i’m obsessing a little, huh? Well!~ Feel free to talk about all things related to The Brave Little Toaster films, here.
LET THE MISSUNDERSTANDINGS ENSUE EVEN FARTHER! lol). Still was great, however (but, sadly, our mom also watched it with us. The sequal, ‘The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars’ was the BIGGEST joke, though. One of the dreams had all the main appliences and the creepy ones having a whole disco dance off, lol XD Yeah…I had no life. I would get a cold sweat from those dreams…it was fun). And even DREAMT about the movie sometimes, though those dreams are barely remembered…I would wake up, thinking they were awesome (but, defenetly deneyin’ it, lol. To be honist….I kind of obsessed over the creepiness a little, lol. maybe NOW I know….hah) (of course, I always told my mom ‘this movie is scary mommy! you shouldn’t encourage us to watch it!‘…she never believed me XD she was like ’aww, what a cute movie…’ and…never watched it with us I think…lol heh) Can you believe it? (…and then you wonder how I became soo…fasanated by ‘Lovecraft’ stuff, lol. it was a cool film!)…lol I was like about 7 when I first saw this one. I guess I can’t blame myself for being soo scared by it as a kid, though (I was really scared by it, seriusly XD used to kind of dread whenever it came on, but…still would re-watch, anyways. Wow, that movie WAS pretty creepy! It’s an amazing film though. The Brave Little Toaster was one heck of an epic film, seriusly…That was a pretty dark/creepy film for children, now, wasn’t it?…XD I didn’t really watch it again on YT like I said I would last night, by the way (too tired…most likely), but, checked some online (technecly, edited, but…yeah) trailers just today.
